Dibenzoylmethane, also known as DPPM, is an organic compound. Its molecular formula is C21H18O and it is a white or light yellow solid.

DPPM is one of the most versatile organic reagents and is mainly used in metal-catalyzed reactions in organic chemistry.DPPM as a ligand can form various metal complexes, such as cobalt, nickel and copper plasma. These metal complexes are able to exert different catalytic activities in different reactions and can be used to catalyse different organic reactions, such as carbonylation reactions, hydrogenation reactions, coupling reactions, cycloaddition reactions, etc.

In addition, DPPM can be used as a catalyst for other important reactions in organic synthesis, such as Heck coupling reactions and Suzuki coupling reactions, where DPPM can be used as a more efficient precursor to palladium catalysts, thus facilitating these reactions.

Uses: as a co-stabiliser for calcium/zinc hydroxylate stabilisation systems, used in the manufacture of PVC mineral water bottles

Overall, DPPM has a wide range of promising applications in organic chemical synthesis to improve the efficiency and selectivity of catalytic reactions.

Production method: Obtained by bromination and hydrolysis from benzyl forked acetylbenzene as raw material.
